John 1
John the Baptist came before To tell about the Light – Not to be the Light himself, But a witness to what’s right. John the Baptist was a voice – A shout to clear the way, To baptize man with water And prepare for Jesus’ Day. And soon the Lamb of God Called to man, “Come see. I’ll baptize with the Spirit All who follow me.”

Luke 10:38-42
Martha was a worrier She stayed busy all the time Making sure the house was clean And prepared for folks to dine. Mary chose to sit awhile At the Savior's feet, Listening to his message, Not fixing food to eat. "Tell her to come help me!" Martha pleaded to the Lord. "I'm working hard, but here she sits. We have wine that must be poured!" "My dear Martha, please don't fret," Said Jesus to his host. "Mary sitting at my feet Is what's desired most." At “Microwave Church”
I get just what I need, Packaged with a smile And delivered with all speed. At “Slow Cooker Church” I consider what I hear, I examine Holy Scripture, Asking God to make it clear. In this pressure cooker life, I’m glad to have a place Where I can worship God At a thoughtful, calming pace. 1 Kings
Solomon had wisdom – T’is a well-known fact, But using wisdom wisely Was a skill that he did lack. It started back when he was young, Just starting out as king, He asked the Lord to give to him Just one specific thing. “Give me wisdom!” was his plea. “I’ll keep away all strife!” But God gave even more to him: Riches, fame, long life. At first the wisdom did him well, He prospered in his reign, But then a wandering eye Gave his legacy a stain. Not just one more wife – Hundreds made a vow, Then a bunch of concubines Showed up to take a bow. Solomon made alliances With each and every one, And worshiping all their idols Made his kingdom come undone. Although he reigned for 40 years, No such luck with his descendants, Until the Son of David came Accepting man’s repentance. So, Solomon wasted gifts from God And squandered what he had, But God used him anyway To bring lots of good from bad. |
